I think that distinction might go to the Smurfs.

There was a TV show in the 1960s but it only was shown in Belgium and only ran for nine episodes in a multi year run. It's also partially lost.

In 1981, Season 1 of the HB show alone lasted nearly triple that with 26 episodes.

Public domain cartoons remastered by Thunderbean have started appearing on MeTV Toons, starting with this 1931 Tom and Jerry short (the Van Beuren series) on Sunday Night Cartoon All-Stars.

Summary: Penciller accepts a pair of sapphire dancing shoes to look his best for the Blue Moon Festival, a yearly event in the Smurf Village which happens on the night of the full moon. But when he finds out that part of the deal was to be enslaved against his free will, the other Smurfs help rescue him and undo the spell in exchange for his freedom. Note: Penciller's dancing shoes are of a sapphire color rather than a gold color.

The later "Real Ghostbusters" episode "Stay Tooned" with Sammy K. Ferret is such a great concept, but, UUGGH, that bad animation! This was at the time where DiC Enterprises's "Do It Cheap" reputation got into full swing, looking all off-model and wonky, even for 1990 standards! #MeTVToons

Peyo is actually kind of overlooked as a cartoonist, he was crazy good. Just one of those guys who kind of got overshadowed by his creation. The comic Johan (which the Smurfs is a spinoff of) is incredibly comfy.

Fun fact: While Johan is an All-Loving Hero in-universe, he is disliked by the Hanna-Barbera staff behind the 1980s cartoon; he doesn't have many quirks or traits like Peewit or the Smurfs. In fact, his character is rather dull to write for, due to NBC's Standards and Practices.

Happy birthday to one of our favorite dogs, Charlie Dog! Finalized by Chuck Jones, he appeared in five cartoons. Three with Porky Pig which did very well, and two solo outings. #LooneyTunes

Fun fact: The 1980s "Johan and Peewit" segments in season 2 show every reason why they were dropped from the lineup: their failure to interest audiences; they focused more on slapstick than "The Smurfs"; their adventures didn't leave a cultural impact in America, much like they did in Belgium.

Fun fact: Both the Smurfs and Sonic the Hedgehog share similarities in worldbuilding, but both have key differences in premise. Smurfs live in mushroom houses, protecting their village from Gargamel. Sonic and friends protect their environment from Doctor Eggman's evil gadgets.
