I thought the orange VHS tape was a nice touch, as yet another easter egg for those who grew up with Nickelodeon in the 1990s. (BTW, this particular Sony Wonder VHS release featured the UNCUT "The Good, The Bad, and the Wallaby!")

Just like "Wabbit/New Looney Tunes" using the Hanna-Barbera "tube take" sound effect once per episode, "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" did this with the "wild scramble" sound effect, to the point where it even got used with Wile E. Coyote's cameo! And it wasn't used in the W7 Looney Tunes shorts, either!

That's not entirely true. Nickelodeon still has most of the ownership in this special, with Netflix merely having distribution rights. Should said rights expire, Nickelodeon will release it elsewhere and remove/replace the "A Netflix Original Film" credit.

Netflix may have distributed the special, but Paramount/Nickelodeon still owns the rights to this production otherwise.

I could tell Art Clokey voiced that radar outpost watchman, as he sounded pretty similar to Prickle. Even when he wasn't voicing Pokey, Clokey still often did incidental voices in the 1961-63 episodes, in addition to often voice Prickle while Dallas McKennon would voice Pokey.

Elephant Silicone Mask

I always loved that comic story! I especially love the part when Joe becomes an elephant... if I were him I'd probably just keep that mask and torso all on, never take it off for who knows how long. Kind of like this:

The really close thunder cracks in "What's New, Scooby-Doo" are so loud that in real life they'd shatter windows! At least that show didn't have any fire alarms; otherwise they'd probably be like the same ones my high school had...

Another thing "The Fairly OddParents" and "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" have in common; an episode where it starts using the old Disney "Castle Thunder" sound effect but abruptly shifts to a newer, realistic and louder thunder effect!

Nice use of "I Love the Nightlife," but I like when that song was in "Homer's Phobia" better...

Probably because the syndicated reruns from the Program Exchange tended to use Fred Steiner's closing/intermission bumper music, but Frank Comstock's "Rocky and his Friends" opening music. They really mixed and matched the themes compared to the original network runs and the DVDs.

Given "Rocky and Bullwinkle" was one of Matt Groening's key inspirations to be a cartoonist when growing up, this isn't too surprising. I love how accurately Alf Clausen re-arranged Fred Steiner's music for the original bumper (save the end, of course!)

Perfect for President's Day!

I feel ya! It would seriously spell DISASTER for the WB Animation properties.
