I now have paid subscriptions to Contrarian, Democracy Docket, Bulwark, and some free ones to other sources. I downgraded my Post subscription to on-line (and Sunday) only as I decided I was paying too much for downgraded quality.

So many great people, yourself included, left the Post. I didn't cancel my subscription but downgraded to online only and Sunday only delivery. Even the paper's format had enshittified, as they put Sports, Metro, and business all in one physical section.

But then there's a limit to how good I want them to be. Or I know who my secondary playoff rooting interest in Round 1 will likely be (assuming Pens don't meet the Caps in Round 1). Nothing like rooting for either Carolina or NJ against them. Okay, I root for ANYONE in the playoffs vs Pitt.

Both had won a fair number of championships in the past. CSKA had a bit of a drought before winning in 2018-19 & then 3 in short order. Dodgers had a drought before winning twice since the pandemic. Once upon a time, the Dodgers were baseball's version of the San Jose Sharks.

You make a good point, although the Dodgers as a franchise have not been as successful in winning championships as the Yankees. I remember when both the Dodgers and CSKA had championship droughts since the fall of the Soviet Union & would make wisecracks about that.

Exactly how I feel. I used to like the Dodgers in the past since they had players I liked, even if never one of their fans. But they're now like CSKA in the KHL. A rich team who gets all the good players.

Remember when the Montreal Canadiens got off to their best start ever in 2025-16, winning about 10 games in a row and beating good teams. They ultimately failed to make the playoffs that season. Carey Price was injured, too.

Likely not. I actually have a story idea that I wrote about a make believe Seattle Mariners team. They were playing in Game 7 on Halloween against the Mets. Seattle's ace, a guy named George Dylan "Geordi" Carpenter had held onto a 1-0 lead into the 9th. But he gets tired and gives up a hit. (1)

I don't get that scheduling at all. The Panthers' Cup raising should have been in prime time -- against a rival. Somebody like Boston, TB, or Toronto. Or even Carolina who's at least in their conference. Not against a crummy team that's not even in their conference.
