I was fortunate to spot this, the widest #Rainbow 🌈 I’ve ever seen. Thanks Calgary 🇨🇦. After doing some digging I learned this #Phenomenon is called a supernumerary rainbow.

It’s the first FRQ for Environmental.

I agree with your assessment. I think that was the thinking in the Framework for K-12 #SciEd & still, Advanced Placement courses have their own standards & require students to use the scientific method as we did pre #NGSS Except now Ss are learning it as a single process in 10th - 12th grade. 🫠

Bc of the way the Practices 💙 are separated, the structure of #OpenSciEd units, I’ve noticed Ss don’t gain a practical understanding or the rote skills for using Scientific Method.

This leaves our AP teachers at a disadvantage & perhaps we need to adjust. What do you think? #NGSS #SciEd

Sounds like a challenge. We in CT we don’t have priority standards the way math and ela do & I’ve found the sp ed dept often doesn’t know what to do with that.

The feedback was helpful. It let me relax into reading their work. I was able to much more easily review their work, grade the assessment, and give feedback.

I haven’t heard from them if the feedback was helpful. Either way it was a useful catalyst in grading essays.

A friend recently shared with me www.globe.gov as my AP Environmental class is scheduled to take albedo data from our campus. Looks like a great place for our data to go & an awesome #CitizenScience opp for my students. Is anyone else here doing this? Would you share you experience?

We’ve been fortunate in my district to receive a lot of pd and release time to make sense of these units.

1 bit of advice, take the assessments as a student would before you start teaching the unit. It makes a difference.
