The confronting data exposing the patterns behind gendered violence deaths
An analysis of data by the ABC shows 69 women were killed in instances of gendered violence last year in Australia. All but 10 were killed by someone known to them.

Recalling the terror and drama of Canberra's Jolimont Centre siege
Three decades on from the chaos in the centre of Canberra.
As the Canberra Times says here, the building was also home to two local radio stations. Miraculously, no-one other than the gunman, who shot himself, died.

It's 30 years since a dramatic "siege" at Canberra's Jolimont Centre - the city's intercity bus terminal. I'd not heard about it before today... in fact I didn't even know it was called the "Jolimont Centre" until the weekend, when I got on the bus to Sydney there and walked past the sign.
