I have finally joined Discord but I have no idea how to use it or even why I should be using it.

Can anyone give me some advice or share a link to some guidance?

Shout out to Leeds Building Society for the extraordinary breadth of titles offered as choices when registering for their website.

I wonder how often Princess or Marquis actually get used?

What does the commentator say in Spanish in the intro? The auto-transcription from Apple Podcasts has me confused.

I can work out he says something close to “one, two three four” and then something like “muerte” but I don’t think he says “podcast”!

Wymysorys - Wikipedia

Don’t ask me how but I’ve just stumbled across a language with the most apologetic-sounding name ever.

It’s like a Geordie being indignant that he should apologise.

He can’t be downgraded much further - unless it’s to Andy Windy?

Good to know it was positive! I decided not to wear mine when I went up to the BBC in Manchester earlier this week :-(

Ah ok. Thanks for the clarification.

I’ve vaguely heard of him, but can you provide a UK analogy? Is he Chris Mason/Robert Peston or more John Ware/John Sweeney?

While it’s always lovely to be wished a happy New Year, I think it’s probably pushing it a bit to send that kind of email on January 29th?

Has anyone else received something similar from colleagues in the last few days?

i’m intrigued by the thought that I had some involvement in the process for printing this.

I never understand how this kind of thing gets through.

Whoever wrote it initially didn’t spot it.

Nor did the manager who signed it off.

Nor did anyone at the company which printed it.

Did none of them at any point say “ I don’t think that’s how to spell “unaccompanied”?

You too can watch it via this link

(This is just the kind of thing that BBC would no longer do once/if we are sold off 😢)

It’s absolutely fascinating - a real insight into the traditions of the Scots with a Viking heritage

Currently watching: the rather pretty and slightly bonkers Up Helly Aa fire festival from Lerwick in Shetland. It marks the end of the Yule season and end with the burning of an imitation Viking ship.

Shout out to whoever had the courage to write about there being “only one outcome”, before listing two different outcomes 🤨

Her question was “what’s free will?”

Her question was “what’s free will?”

Quite the question from my nearly eight year old daughter.

My reply was “me not choosing to give you an answer” which itself led to a conversation about irony and recursion.

How would YOU answer it?

(Bonus points for your *own* explanation, not one generated by ChatGPT etc)

I picked this up and started going “duh-luh-luh-DOWWWWW…duh-luh-luh-DOWWWWW” and my young children looked at me like I had gone mad (fair enough, come to think about it)

This TikTok account has 1.9m followers yet the average video has around 10,000 views, sometimes under 5,000 views.

What’s the deal there?

a close up of a hedgehog with a very angry look on his face . ALT: a close up of a hedgehog with a very angry look on his face .

Irrational annoyance at the BBC news report about hedgehogs where almost all the voices in it - reporter & interviewees - pronounced it “hedge-ogs”, rather than “hedge-hog”.
Or have I been wrong all along?
