Martin Ettlin Cuitiño of Lake Forest College won 1st place in the undergraduate category of the poster competition. His poster was entitled, "Glial-specific function of the Endoplasmic Reticulum Membrane Protein Complex (EMC): distinct roles of individual subunits." Congrats, Martin!

Cydney Martell of Northwestern University won 3rd place in the graduate category of the poster competition. Her work was entitled, "Determinants of aggregation in small protein domains." Congrats, Cydney!

Demetria Neal of UIC won 2nd place in the graduate category. Her work was entitled, "Dysregulation of MD thalamic-evoked prefrontal GluN2A and GABA-mediated local field potential responses following early life adversity exposure at a discrete developmental period." Congrats, Demetria!

Giokdjen Ilktach of University of Illinois Chicago won 1st place in the graduate category of the poster competition. Her poster was entitled, "Involvement of calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II beta in chronic pain." Congrats, Giokdjen!

Inés Pulido PhD of University of Illinois-Chicago won 2nd place in the postdoctoral category of the poster competition at the ASPET-GLC meeting. Her poster was entitled, "Integrative analysis of acquired drug resistance to KRAS(G12D) inhibitors." Congrats, Dr. Pulido!

Zekun Shen of University of Illinois Chicago won 1st place in the postdoctoral category of the poster competition at the ASPET-GLC meeting. His poster was entitled, "Engineered Notch agonist mitigates doxorubicin induced cardiotoxicity." Congrats, Dr. Shen!

Shilpa Sharma PhD presents in the Young Investigator Symposium. Her talk was entitled, “Mapping the Free Energy Landscape of AF9-BCOR: Unraveling Intrinsically Disordered Protein Interactions in Leukemia.” Dr. Sharma is a Post-doctoral Associate in the Saha Lab at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Sudarshan Babu PhD presents his talk in the Young Investigator Symposium, which was entitled “Novel Molecular Representations for AI-Driven Discovery.” Dr. Babu is an AI Fellow in the Khan Lab at the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Chicago.

Wei Liang PhD, Senior Scientist at AbbVie, presents her talk in the Young Investigator Symposium at the GLC ASPET Annual Meeting. Her talk was entitled, “Vision-Based AI for Analyzing Primate Behavior.”

We also featured a Young Investigator Symposium.
The goal of the symposium was to give a platform to promising early-career scientists from the Midwest to share their research on applications of AI and other computational approaches to drug discovery and pharmacology.

Dr. Gabriel Rocklin presents his talk in the Main Symposium, entitled “Large-scale discovery, analysis, and design of protein energy landscapes”. Dr. Rocklin is an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University.

Dr. John Karanicolas presents his talk in the Main Symposium, entitled “Emerging strategies for AI/ML-driven drug design”. Dr. Karanicolas is Head of Computational Drug Discovery at AbbVie.

Dr. Sanjiv Shah presents "Leveraging Machine Learning to Address the Challenges of Drug Development for Heterogeneous Clinical Syndromes". Dr. Shah is Director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine - Center for Deep Phenotyping and Precision Therapeutics.

Dr. Nicholas Tatonetti, Vice Chair of Operations in the Department of Computational Biomedicine and Assoc. Director of Computational Oncology in the Cancer Center at Cedars Sinai presents the keynote talk, “From Signals to Solutions: AI for Safer Medicines in Underserved Groups”

170 pharmacologists, biologists, computer scientists, clinicians, and students from academia and the pharmaceutical industry were in attendance. The conference included 18 universities and research institutes, 11 pharmaceutical or biotech companies, and two healthcare centers. 2/2
