I think it depends. They might start him in the minors, but in the majors, he’d probably be in the bullpen. Of course, results in Spring Training can change the plans.

He’s not the guy. There are outfielders and back end rotation guys still out there with Spring Training getting nearer. They will sign one or two more players.

Their rotation is still not great, their outfield has a vacancy and they don’t have an actual 1st baseman. Let’s not forget that they were only 4 games over .500 last year.

I hear you, but I think there still is an opportunity, with the Yankees sticking to their 5 year offer and the Mets still looking for rotation help. If the Blue Jays can’t pony up the money, the stars might align for Philly. I’m not saying it’s likely, I just wouldn’t be shocked.

After all that, the Phillies should spend a little money on someone like Andujar, as well as a starter like Littel or Giolito. They can still make small improvements at the very least.

I do have a point. They’re throwing out bogus numbers, which then affects other contracts down the line. The artificially inflated number becomes the actual number. Before Ohtani, we were looking at $30 a year contract being a huge amount of money. Now that’s just given to average players.

Look at Ohtani’s contract. Look at Soto’s contract. Look at Tucker’s contract. Look at Bichette’s contract. These are numbers way beyond the contracts every other team gives out to great players. Bichette was asking for seven years $200 mil, which is basically $28.5 mil a year. He got $42 mil a year

To be fair, no one is throwing out contracts like the Mets and Dodgers are. Those aren’t real numbers. They’re just made up numbers that the player agrees to. Those two team are why a lockout is imminent.

You cannot tell me that the Mets and Dodgers handing out astronomical deals to players isn’t bad for the game. It isn’t just that they’re signing good players, they’re signing good players to contracts that no one in their right mind would offer. Who can compete with that?
