Five Things You Didn’t Know About Born in the U.S.A. | The Saturday Evening Post All About The Boss’s Biggest

The Boss dropped “Born in the U.S.A.” 40 years ago, and people have misunderstood it ever since.

I have a good many friends across the rainbow of humans that Pride is meant to celebrate, and they deserve that space. And one of the reasons that they deserve it is because there are still so many people that will insult or do calculated harm to them simply for existing. And honestly, fuck that.

Personally, I think it's fine and worthy to honor our service personnel and veterans.

I also think that Pride Month is fine and worthy, mainly because there is still so much needless, unchecked hate in this country.

There's also a Military Appreciation DAY on August 31 in addition to Memorial Day and Veteran's Day, not to mention various and sundry acknowledgments that are regularly part of major sporting events and public celebrations.

For all the people cry-assing about there needing to be a Military Appreciation Month whenever Pride is mentioned . . . it was May. You missed it. In fact, you've missed it for 26 years. It was designated by Congress in 1999.
