I went to one of his talks in college and it was thoroughly demobilizing. Everyone left feeling like organizing was hopeless so why bother.

I met Ian outside the Whipple Building in Mpls last week, where he was protesting ICE. I was blown away by his vulnerability, by how deeply he—a 6-time combat vet—feels like his nation is under attack. I just learned that he was among those arrested by federal officials for protesting at the church.

Sounds like there’s gonna be some big protests today and I wish we would just celebrate that rather than calling today something it’s not which will only confuse and disappoint people.
