It’s also a good reminder that the myth of “no vegan fertilizers” is just that—a myth. Veganic farming isn’t only possible; it’s practical and incredibly beneficial.

Thanks for following along as we keep challenging the norms of conventional agriculture and proving there’s a better way. 💚

Instead of conventional fertilizers, often from slaughterhouse byproducts or petrochemicals, we used a calculated mix of cottonseed meal and alfalfa pellets. Both 100% plant-based, supporting soil life and nutrient availability without the ethical and ecological costs of animal agriculture.

Typically we don’t use offsite amendments—relying fully on on-farm nutrient cycling and natural succession. But for our corn seed project, we decided to invest in a little extra nutrition to give this heirloom crop its best shot.
