I acually own this game and have played the demo, so this is perfect.

TL;DR Bowser probably will stay as a big bad in non RPG, but I won't be surprised if thtey will remove peach from her damsel in distress role moving forward, given the more recent games have pivoted to that.

That said I think thtey will keep Bowser as the big bad for non RPG sstuff. I just feel they have been slowly pivoting the games "plots" from "save peach from bowser" to "stop Bowsers newest scheme" but that's just how I see it.

So, given all that I don't really think Peach would get kidnapped in future games. I feel the next 3d platformer will be the nail in the coffin whether or not she will be kidnapped in the future. If she doesn't, then we can assume itts in the past, or att least not as prevalent.

Add to the fact that, with the only eexception of Origami King, the RPGs of this era haven't really had Peach being kidnapped as a major plot point. Brothership has it as an optional thing early on the game, Mario + Rabbids did smth similar IIRC and she wasn't kidnapped at all in sparks of hope.

To be fair, the switch generation seems to be moving away from the Peach gets kidnapped plot. We haven't really seen it anywhere else (remakes/ports not witth standing).

Even more traditional stuff like Wonder, Bowsers Fury or the movie had a diffrent plot, it wasn't (just) about Peach.

I'm kinda eh on the new IDW Sonic personally but I will say it's pretty refreshing to have Children's Media Icons Sonic And Tails respectfully acknowledge a person w/ a dissociative disorder's experiences and literally be normal about it.
