Just beat Sonic Lost World. It's not as bad as I was led to believe, but it still has some awkward mechanics. Sometimes its cylindrical levels could be thrilling to run down. Dislike the villains, wisps felt stapled on, but I like that they brought back older enemy designs.

Just finished replaying the OG Sonic Generations. Solid gameplay experience that's endearing due to all of the throwback/fan service level themes. I'm not in love with it, since it feels pretty floaty in both 2D and 3D and many moments have awkward scripting.

I read through the first 9 issues of Absolute Batman. Pretty cool to read something that’s a total fresh start. The first arc had some dope moments and the stuff with Bane seems interesting so far. Funny how all of his original villains are his childhood friends/poker buddies.

Just finished the first omnibus for the IDW Sonic comic. Starts out pretty generic but feels like it has shaken off the Sonic Forces relations by the end. I'm interested to see where it goes since the art is nice.

Recently read The Man Without Fear. Solid origin story recap, though it would probably hit better if I knew some of the things it was leading into. So, I've gone back and started reading from issue #158 of the main series to see the original context.

Many examples, especially reading comics lately lol. Another would be Ocelot learning to love torture because Volgin does. This doesn't ruin the character or anything but it's just like "okay". Ocelot getting spiritual powers by being the son of The Sorrow feels like a more valuable addition.

One of my least favorite tropes is when they do a prequel and explain that an established character got one of their defining characteristics by seeing/meeting some guy in the past who just did that thing with no justification themselves.

Thanks to you, I've also started collecting comics. So far, it's been fun.

Haven't been updating what I've been reading lately, but to sum it up, I read a bunch of the Jim Lee era of X-Men from the 90s, Birds of Prey, and some of the IDW Sonic series! As for Batman, I read Venom, Prey, Shaman, all of Batman Eternal, War Games, and Under the Hood.

Finally beat Fear 3, meaning I can put this franchise to rest. This was really short and braindead but at least it was kinda fun to co-op and blast a million enemies. Nihilistic and goofy as fuck at the same time. Surprising lack of awesome weapons though.

There are several channels I've stopped watching because they started using AI generated thumbnails. I'm not even slamming my fist down, all of the interest just leaves my body, and that subtle lack of trust in quality is all a viewer needs to stop clicking on your stuff.

I was delaying writing the rest of the Nishiki video until I saw what the Director’s Cut of Yakuza 0 added, but uhh I can see now that wasn’t necessary at all.

Just finished Gundam ZZ! While it started rough and kinda lame, it actually got pretty good by the middle to last third. Everything started to grow on me by the end and I really liked a lot of the character designs. Definitely not a skip like I was led to believe.

Just read Batman: The Cult… really dark and trippy visuals with Batman himself feeling really vulnerable. Use of bright colors in this is amazing. Jason Todd kicked ass in this and Deacon Blackfire was a really cool one-off villain.

Just replayed Batman: Arkham Knight and I still think it's pretty damn good. Playing it on PC really elevated how impressive the it is visually. Fun doing all the side missions and filling up the police department. Story still isn't amazing but I do like Scarecrow well enough.

Just completed the omnibuses for Prelude to Knightfall + Knightfall itself. This has been ~1,000 pages/38 issues so far, but it's been fun to check back in on over time. I've learned so much about various Batman villains who are much cooler than I thought. Love the armored suit!

Just finished Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Huge upgrade in aesthetics with a lot of enjoyable characters. Some elements related to the Cyber Newtypes got grating, but it was a captivating narrative overall. It did feel less "standalone" compared to 0079, so I'm excited to watch ZZ.

This is valid, though I already felt comfortable with the size of Asylum. City is uniquely detailed and dense, while I didn't feel a connection to the city even in Origins.

From what I see, people like Asylum a lot, think City was even better, and then it went downhill from there. I actually think Origins is around the same quality of City and I thought Knight was pretty solid. Origins gets points for its setting/aesthetic but loses some for being too derivative.

Replayed Batman: Arkham City. I enjoyed it a bit more than when it first came out, but I still don't see how this game is seen as the peak of the series. The setting/villains don't click the way they did in Asylum and the actual story/sequence of events are really weak.
