My reaction to BAC when I saw them at Drums Along the Rockies last month. I was gobsmacked.

Boston: What a show! Just sensational. This is the whole package, everything just works. Opener is outrageous, mellos, wow and that Guard! Ballad is just beautiful, so melodic and emotional. Drums are outstanding. I don’t see a weakness. Let’s see what happens when they tango with Bluecoats.

Blue Devils: I like this show. Brass is excellent as always, that first hit is just so classic BD. Drums are good but it’s the guard that knocks my socks off. That feature for them at the end in the circle is spectacular. Better drill than last season, it really works well. Is it top 3? We’ll see.

I want to hear more of it instead of just a measure of it to start the finale. That said, holy shit, what a show!

SCV: What A Show. This is the Vanguard I love. Weird and wonderful. There is so much going on in this show. I’m not sold on the back half of the show just yet. First Half though it lights out excellent. Drum Line is ridiculously good and the guard is outstanding. Don’t sleep on them, they can win.

Santa Clara next. IMHO, they’re trying to prove a point. That you can design a show with no props and still be very competitive. I’d say they are succeeding nicely.

Mandarins “If I Should Fall” Very solid show, well constructed and performed. Guard is really good and sells their show well. Brass has some really cool moments and Drums are solid. Ending isn’t in yet so I can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeve.
