When trying to decide if a plastic cleanup technology is a good idea, ask yourself:

Would this work on land? Would dragging a net through a forest be a good idea?

If the answer is โ€œnoโ€, then itโ€™s not a good idea in the ocean, either.

World Athleticsโ€™ mandatory genetic test for women athletes is misguided. I should know โ€“ I discovered the relevant gene in 1990 World Athletics says its genetic test for women ensures โ€˜the integrity of womenโ€™s sportโ€™ โ€“ but science does not support this overly simplistic idea.

World Athletics says that "The SRY gene is a reliable proxy for determining biological sex." The guy who literally discovered the gene and has spent the last 35 years researching it says they're wrong. theconversation.com/world-athlet...

DOE climate report response form We are collecting names to assemble a writing team to respond to the DOE climate working group report. If you'd like to contribute, enter your info below. At this point, there is no guarantee what we'll do (if anything), but we want to keep our options open by collecting names. If you have any further questions, feel free to email me. We are primarily looking for Ph.D. scientists at universities or government labs in appropriate fields. I realize that this will exclude some qualified people and I apologize, but we felt this was necessary for a variety of reasons.

๐Ÿšจ If you're interested in working on a coordinated response to the DOE climate report, please enter your info on this google form ๐Ÿšจ

Please RT this so as many people see it as possible.

Politicizing science: how quota quarrels lose sight of sustainable fishing โ€“ The Independent Doubling Northern cod catch limits ran counter to what scientists and key stakeholders called for โ€” so whatโ€™s behind the decision?

"What if, instead of contentious quota disputes, the focus shifted to collaborative efforts that prioritize marine ecosystem health?"

If you didn't already think the #BigUglyBill was essentially a ban on clean energy, you should now. Overnight GOP added a new tax on wind and solar while giving a new subsidy to COAL, most of which gets exported. Meanwhile the rest of us will pay more for less energy.
