The Australian GNU Radio Days event is running September 23-26 in Adelaide, hosted by Flinders University. Three days of talks and workshops followed by breakouts.
Still a little time to submit a talk or booth if you're interested!

GNU Radio is looking for a contractor to either port the existing Qt based GNU Radio Companion application to the web (running proof of concept exists), or to develop a new frontend capable of creating flowgraphs, executing the resulting program, and displaying the UI in the web.
Could that be you?

Global backprojection vs fast factorized backprojection image quality. The biggest difference is larger sidelobes on the brightest target in the FFBP image.
Found motivation to write some SAR processing code. Fast factorized backprojection generates several small polar format images and then interpolates them to one big image. It's faster, but has slightly worse image quality due to all the interpolations.

Your blog posts are always great reads. Would you consider writing one on measuring these references and calculating the coefficients? Claudio's site is a good reference on coefficient calculation and it would be interesting to see your take on it.

A plot of the Doppler curve of the S-band telemetry as observed by Bochum and Dwingeloo. We can see a part of one orbit, all the powered descent, and the manoeuvres for landing.
A zoom to a region of a few minutes around the touchdown. The Doppler increases smoothly until becoming almost constant. This is typical of a smooth vertical deceleration that finishes with ground contact.
New blog post: BGM-1 Doppler during the lunar landing. Some quick plots of the Doppler of @firefly-aerospace.bsky.social's lander as received by the @amsat-dl.org and @radiotelescoop.bsky.social groundstations.

Sylvain Munaut Combines Two Tiny Tapeout Projects to Create an Open-Silicon Software-Defined Radio
While the resulting SDR won't be winning any awards for performance or features, it's a great example of Tiny Tapeout's flexibility.
Sylvain Munaut has created a basic software-defined radio the hard way โ by combining two open-silicon projects submitted for production on two Tiny Tapeout shuttle runs: an analog-to-digital converter and a radio-frequency mixer.

A waterfall of the IQ recording showing two packets from different transmitters. The modulation is OFDM, and preambles causing spectral lines can be seen at the beginning of the packets, and also a few symbols after the start of the first packet.
New blog post: Decoding IEEE 802.11ah. Here I analyze a recording of a baby monitor camera, which happens to use 2 MHz BW WiFi HaLow at 866 MHz. Similarly to my LTE and 5G posts, I write a Jupyter notebook to decode the signal from scratch, and write the MAC frames to PCAP.

Announcing Pace Layers
The inaugural issue of Long Nowโs new annual print journal synthesizes the most important learnings of our first quarter-century.
We are thrilled to announce Pace Layers, a new annual journal of long-term thinking.
Our first issue is a 282-page compendium of ideas, art, and insights on what we call the pace layers of our planet: fashion, commerce, infrastructure, governance, culture, and nature.

Automating the synchronization of the X-band sensor to emitters at known celestial locations. Here I'm using China's TIANWEN-1 Mars orbiter to act as that emitter. Using the known position of Mars I'm able to synchronize the radio telescope's aim to ensure other objects of unknown location are accurately aimed at and their positions can be relatively accurately obtained.
Closing in on the final stages of automating the X-band sensor. Here's the plot outputted by the automated sensor alignment code prior to alignment. The code scans an emitter with a known location (here TIANWEN-1 around Mars) plots it and then when commanded will correct the mount's aim. ๐งตโฌ๏ธ
