This is a carbonized loaf of bread from Pompeii, 79 C.E. - preserved for thousands of years in the volcanic ashes of Mount Vesuvius. The baker left his stamp: “Celer, slave of Quintus Granius Verus." Celer is known to have survived the eruption, as his name later appears on a list of freed men.

Marble sculpture on display in the Louvre Museum, Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss. Cupid is holding his lover, the goddess of the soul named Psyche, after she was revived following consumption of a poisonous substance.

“Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss” marble sculpture in the Louvre Museum by Antonio Canova. It was completed 6 years after being commissioned in 1793.

A set of 12 Desert Plates that are orange and made out of glazed pottery.

A set of 7 Cup Plates. They are orange and made from glazed pottery.

These lovely items are from a collection donated to the Sloan Museum of Discovery in 2007. While no date or information was given on these items, visually similar objects appear to be from 1945 to 1970, potentially classifying these as "Mid-Century Modern."

National Archives Museum Under Fire | Artnet News The National Archives Museum has reportedly removed materials from planned displays that treat difficult parts of U.S. history.

“Reportedly removed from this display were images of civil rights crusader Martin Luther King Jr., labor union activist Dolores Huerta, and the first Native American woman to join the Marine Corps, Minnie Spotted-Wolf.”

My job at Ulster Folk Museum means that I have curatorial responsibility for a large collection of dress and textiles dating from 1730 to present day. This includes fabulous archives of #lace #embroidery #fashion #dressmakingpatterns Here are a few of the lovely objects in the #museum collection.
