So watching Trump bend over backwards for MBS right now — with business deals swirling around Trump’s family and parts of the Epstein files suddenly classified — really raises the question:

He flew to Saudi Arabia in 2016, came back with lavish gifts, and even kept a framed photo of MBS in his Manhattan home. Those ties are documented.

The timing is almost too on-the-nose: MBS is in Washington getting the full Trump red-carpet treatment the same week Congress votes on the Epstein files.

And remember — reporting has already shown that Epstein actively courted MBS.

Agreed. I gave up my New York Times subscription long ago, but keep the app on my phone to review the headlines. I am consistently disgusted by what they decide to promote and what they are silent about.

Look at what’s on the “today” page on the NYT app? It makes me think there are some more people associated with the NYT who are caught up in the Epstein scandal. Why else not cover that five administrations have buried accountability for the powerful men and women who are part of this sex ring?

I’m disappointed in the Democrats too. But if Democrats had won the presidency or a majority in congress, none of this would even be on the table. It’s hard staying engaged when they let us down, but the only way to change these outcomes is to remove Republicans in the first place.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

Tonight was a very bad night.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.

Budgets are moral documents. They show who we value when things get hard.

And right now, the message is painfully clear: the richest are protected while everyone else is told to “wait!”

We can afford tax cuts for billionaires — but not paychecks for workers.

That’s what this shutdown says.

The levelized cost of clean energy in China is aspirational for the rest of the world. What stupidity we have with our fat greedy oligarchs, clinging to our fossil fuels, and pretending that dirty energy is cheaper and better.

As a New Yorker who was happily gerrymandered out of Stefanik’s district all I can say is that the GOP couldn’t nominate a more motivating candidate for pro-democracy voters to rally against. She’ll make Hochul seem popular. Bring it.
