I find it is important that teachers set a good example, so being 'good' in school is beneficial. However, the teachers (including myself) who didn't always follow the rules and got in trouble do seem to relate well to the more challenging students and build positive relationships with them

Another 'win' for Everton today. I'll take each of the last 4 results as a massive positive considering where we are, where the teams we've played are.

marking tests on a Sunday afternoon. It takes me back to the early days of teaching when this was commonplace. I still get the same emotion for the pupils though. A constant mixture of delight and frustration. All useful for feedback though

Thanks for the detailed reply. This seems like a win win situation as using supply agency staff can cause huge disruption for students as they are not used to school systems and expectations. Now to present this idea to our head...

A good thing! We all want our mentors to be well trained and prepared, the 20 hour requirement was putting too much pressure on our teaching staff.

Back in my early days of teaching, any type of praise was seen to be good. As this article highlights, there are many better ways to praise students. Just making them feel good isn't enough, you need to be specific and the best teaching I've seen does exactly this

Interesting article. Not sure how the French manage to support pupils if they are off-site when not teaching, but maybe that's a major reason why teachers are so stressed in the UK?

A few things I've learned from doing the school timetable for the first time this year.
1. It's actually a more important job than I thought. Making sure that all subjects can deliver their curriculum effectively.
2. As well planned as I thought I was, many unpredictable challenges can occur, often.

Really interested in this strategy. Similar to identifying the highest leverage action steps.
