2/3: DOEE inspectors are continually evaluating the Potomac sewage spill’s impacts within the District's jurisdiction. Although the sewage spill happened more than four miles from the District, DOEE is participating in response and monitoring efforts with various government entities and programs.

1/3: DC drinking water remains safe for everyone to drink and use. DOEE strongly recommends that residents and their pets continue to avoid direct contact with the Potomac River, such as fishing, until the situation is fully resolved and bacteria levels are reported as safe.

We're happy to announce the recipient of the 2025 Stormwater Hero of The Year award: Mr. Daniel R Botts Jr, of @dcpolicedept.bsky.social.

Mr. Botts manages, the daily operations of the MPD Impound Lot. We're thankful for all he has done to make stormwater pollution prevention a priority.

Yesterday, our Lead-Safe & Healthy Housing team collaborated with Department of Health to engage visitors of our local vital records office. Children are most at risk of exposure. Our public health analysts are committed to education and prevention and reaching parents wherever they are!
