È la domanda che mi ha perseguitato mentre leggevo Breakneck.

Si parla di Dyson Sphere per catturare l’energia delle stelle, di civiltà tecnologicamente avanzate, di data center sulla Luna e persino di LLM addestrati direttamente in orbita.

Ma ci sono anche implicazioni economiche e politiche in questa nuova corsa allo spazio.✨

Nelle ultime settimane, i big della tecnologia, da Musk a Altman, da Bezos a Pichai, hanno lanciato una nuova ambizione: portare i data center nello spazio. 🌌

Dal 2020 sono stati investiti circa 70 milioni di euro in progetti spaziali, con un picco di 30 milioni solo nel 2023.

Ma da qui la storia si sposta in Cina. Highlander, azienda cinese sotto sanzioni americane, prende in mano il progetto, collaborando con i governi locali, e nel 2025 porta sul mercato il primo data center sottomarino operativo. 🚀🐠

Nokia & Ericsson get squeezed out of the few crumbs they still had on Chinese market.

All the while, Huawei & ZTE have retained 30 to 35 per cent of the European mobile infrastructure market. Huawei 50%+ of German 5G access network.

Absolute economic security folly.
