Time to clean up Australia's failing, scandal-plagued universities Australia's universities are plummeting down international rankings while charging students more than ever for their degrees.

Governance at Australia’s universities is in a dire state. VCs are paid like CEOs but don't face the oversight seen in the public or private sectors.

A few of us at @australiainstitute.org.au put together recommendations on how to fix our broken system.

This exchange encapsulates so much of what is wrong with the media:

Former ABC Chair Ita Buttrose describes Antoinette Lattouf as “an activist”.

“What was the view that Ms Lattouf had Ms Buttrose?” Lattouf’s lawyer asks.

“I think she was critical of Israel” Buttrose says.

Today, the Australian reported that Bill Shorten will receive a "shocking" remuneration package of $860k in his new job as VC at the Uni of Canberra.

Our research found that the VCs of leading unis in Australia receive on average nearly $1.3 million each year in remuneration.

Is this fair?

Every morning we wake up to more horror – but worse than that, more people who are seemingly indifferent to it. Compassion burnout is real, but it is also what power wants. Empathy keeps us human and yes, it is heavy, but it's a burden worth holding ♥️

FamilyVoice Australia is urging the Federal government to immediately ban puberty blocking prescriptions and to ensure parental requirements are fully met as they seek to guide and protect their offspring who may experience identity confusion.

“Government must demand medical and educational institutions recognise children belong to parents, not the State,” David d’Lima said.

“Just as the recent ban on social media access for under 16-year olds recognises the immaturity of young people, and will strengthen the ability of parents to protect their children from online harm, so too action must protect kids from gender identity mayhem.”

Of course the social media ban was going to be used to call for other things to be banned.
