07.02.2026 08:39 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Oh yes, the movement needs to be far bigger than the party! It’s always been one of the biggest problems the Greens face. But in this context, it’s crucial that we see the party as one small aspect of the world-building project.
06.02.2026 02:44 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Maybe? I think so? While we still have this very very broken and problematic system of electoral democracy… On our way to some form of municipal confederalism or something…

06.02.2026 01:45 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Left populism says politics is broken, government is failing people - and it is. But then it says "vote for us and we'll fix it for you".
I’ve been working on these thoughts for a while. Would love your engagement and thoughts.
Thanks so much, Marie!

It's hot
It's hard to think when the heat is so intense
And we need to think through some painfully hot challenges to which there are no shortcuts
We have to sit in the discomfort, listening to what it's telling us, holding each other & ourselves in that discomfort, in both care & accountability
Because the ABC can't be bothered to tell you, this is happening because we burn shit tonnes of coal and gas and our government keeps approving more pollution www.abc.net.au/news/2026-01...

But it’s blackfullas and people who associate with them, that’s fine.

Climatic history is set to be rewritten with an absolutely deadly week:
Today 48.5C in South Australia,47.2 New South Wales,
45.3 Queensland,45.0 Victoria
‼️We might expect 7 CONSECUTIVE DAYS >46C in New South Wales and we can't rule out 50C.
A HELL
I was trying to figure out how to use that line

As someone who has spent over 35 years trying to explain that violence is inherent to policing only to have most people be OK with this, I could be excused if I decided to just give up. But I'm not. I knew we would be where we are today. I still think that we do not have to live like this.

I'm sorry. As a technology writer, I'm supposed to be telling you that this bet will some day pay off, because one day we will have shoveled so many words into the word-guessing program that it wakes up and learns how to actually do the jobs it is failing spectacularly at today. This is a proposition akin to the idea that if we keep breeding horses to run faster and faster, one of them will give birth to a locomotive. Humans possess intelligence, and machines do not. The difference between a human and a word-guessing program isn't how many words the human knows. I'm sorry. I know that when we talk about "digital sovereignty," we're obliged to talk about how we can build more data-centres that we can fill up with money-losing chips from American silicon monopolists in the hopes of destroying as many jobs as possible while blowing through our clean energy goals and enshittifying as much of our potable water as possible.
