In honor of the current viral video game mom, here is me doing VoG in Destiny 2 with my sleeping 9 day old baby. Cuddles during sleep cycles and enjoying a favorite hobby really helped me stay sane.

Loud hubs save lives. That’s the saying, right? At least thats what I tell myself when I ride my chonky little bike through a crowd lol

It took me a minute to realize the reason this little alleyway winery was so delightful is because it’s completely insulated from all of the chaos that is downtown Denver traffic.

You absolutely could! Home, history/origins, basic recipe, local reviews, anatomy of a Rangoon, global variations, gift shop (insert stickers here!), etc etc. Source: 15 years professional experience (in UX design + mentorship - I have at least 30 in crab rangoons)

I promise it gets easier though- in an odd way the instability and ever changing nature of childhood begins to feel normal.

We both work from home, so when I got pregnant my husband moved down to the basement. Now we’re getting ready to move me out of my office (I think I’m going to the unfinished basement??) so we can slowly redo it for her Big Girl room. The routine shifts are really difficult!

The 4 stages of #bicycle consciousness:

1. Bikes are obstacles (outright bans)
2. Bikes are toys (OK, your kids can ride around their subdivision)
3. Bikes are exercise (paths in parks that you drive to)
4. Bikes are transportation (you can mostly get from A to B without risking death)

Would I be insane to swap my long term corporate position for an ai product or engineering role at a startup? Because I’m getting real over my current employer 🙃

Good to know- I was lamenting the fact that the new model doesn’t have one. Colorado has crazy strong sun! Seems like the DIY route might be the way to go

Yes indeed! It does great with the little bumps even though my bike has exactly 0 suspension.

3 seats are up in Colorado’s Academy School District 20. It’s a great district but threatened by some crazy bananas extremists.

I’m not sure anyone sitting in that line wants that, but it’s a natural progression of our societal dependency on cars & underfunding of schools, among other things. My kid’s daycare is close to an elementary school & cruising past that line every morning has me thankful for ebikes.

I live in what I’m pretty sure is the strip mall capital of the world (Colorado Springs)- so I feel you in a big way. If we didn’t have a back route out of the neighborhood & through an empty & underdeveloped office complex there’s no way we’d go here.

Even though the front of this ice cream place is a car-centric hellscape the back way is a fun ride almost exactly a mile from our front door. There is no bike parking 🙃

It can also be surprising because when many of us were young there weren’t near as many kids being dropped off- most took the bus or walked. There are less crossing guards & buses now & it’s creates a vicious cycle.

I ask this in good faith- have you seen the chaos that is a suburban American school dropoff? The number of cars alone prevent an orderly experience. It floods out into the neighboring streets and creates traffic jams and poor driving patterns

We spend so much more time together as a family now that we’ve embraced bicycles. My little cargo e-bike (radrunner 2!) makes it all feel approachable and lighthearted. It’s a real boon here in Colorado where we’ve got tons of hills and even more exceptionally fit, serious athletes.

I feel you. We used to go to the smoky mountains every year during Memorial Day weekend to ride motorcycles and it absolutely wrecked my allergies. Every. Single. Time. Nothing like two wheels to funnel the pollen straight up your nostrils 🙃

The days are still hot, but the morning sun rides are getting a bit crisp. This worked surprisingly well.

I’m 90% certain I’m going to purchase an Urban Arrow FamilyNext this fall. I want to test ride other front loaders though, which likely means a trip to Boulder & Front Range Cargo Bikes 🎉

It’s a safety net that lets little kids climb super high up. They form these little tunnel-like things around those petal-like structures. They’re really cool! My 2 year old was obsessed with a similar playground structure at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum over the summer

My mother and aunt are visiting Amsterdam and she won’t stop sending photos of their beautiful infrastructure and all the bakfiets she comes across. Anyone there hiring for UX or Linguistic Modeling? 😭

Not gonna lie, the daily commute to daycare has been a life preserver for me to cling to some days. It’s a simple joy that I desperately need to keep me grounded.
