Next free @wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk webinar is Feb 12.

I highly recommend learning more about their cutting edge, relevant policy & public space recommendations.

I welcome a world where micromobility means safe, inclusive access for all!

Proud of my #Portland peeps.

Appalled at the dark turn it took. Federal forces deployed heavy waves of chemical munitions on this peaceful daytime protest, onto thousands of people including elders and small children.

Take courage in community. Together we can create a world that supports life.

Hundreds of bike rides are happening across the America this Saturday, January 31, in honor of Alex Pretti and others murdered & traumatized by ICE, including at least four in the Portland area.

I think your description of the bikes everyday bikers ride, "comfort-style bikes", explains why people choose the bikes they do here in NL. They are comfortable!

Winter Cycling in Utrecht
YouTube video by BicycleDutch Winter Cycling in Utrecht

More than 2 minutes of bike bliss in Utrecht.

Cargo bikes, rental bikes, business people, people carrying flowers, people doubled up, delivery bikers and a delightful flock of school kids teasing each other @ 1:40.

Getting places by bike makes people happy and connected.

When Space Runs Out: Rethinking the Role of the Car in Dutch Cities Dutch cities are changing rapidly. One of the aims of this blog is to document that change, and there is plenty of work ahead. Much of what I record involves changes to streets: a before-and-after โ€ฆ

"The most effective way to reduce car use is to remove the necessity of using a car in the first place."

Bollards, car control plans, the redistribution of public space, and the 10-minute city of Utrecht NL.

A little slice of sensible, kind, Dutch cities is the whole reason I post videos here

I'm very aware of chaotic public space in most other parts of the world, often car-related. There is absolutely no reason all people cannot have nice streets. We just need to figure out how to move away from cars.

It's a choice.

When putting America back together in the coming years, consider making public space for people rather than the cars some of them drive.

This is true. The frames of the old (pre-2000) steel bikes I work on are in much better shape than newer bikes. I don't know anything about steel production, but many new bikes are piles of rust after just a few years.

In my limited experience, my friends' cars in NL are always in excellent condition compared to US cars. And cars have so many parts that can't be fixed at home.

On the other hand, Dutch do a lot of home repairs on their bikes, plus have a high tolerance for poorly maintained bikes.

Government, companies, institutions, media still haven't really migrated from the evil X.

Plus, I don't see much Bluesky used outside of North America.

Thereโ€™s a really nice article about Helen Levittโ€™s art, by Lauren Graves (www.jstor.org/stable/10.57...), which concludes that the children werenโ€™t just making art but also โ€œa place for themselves within the contested city streetsโ€

In the days since Ms. Good was killed agents have been caught on camera askingโ€œHave yโ€™all not learned from the past couple days?โ€

โ€œLearned what?โ€asks a womanโ€œWhatโ€™s our lesson here?โ€

Is male supremacy our lesson? Hatred? Cowardice? That the 1st Amendment turns out to be as fragile as rice paper?
