That's not even touching on how it's a love letter to mid-century cinema even by Lucas' standards. It swings from 40s noir to 60s stylistic austerity to 30s romance to 50s greaser movies to western and ends in a tribute to Ray Harryhausen.

Love how it explores the ways in which a society's die can have been cast long before anyone is even aware of it. Even by the time the film begins you get the sense they've already lost. Gunray got away with it, there's mistrust between Jedi and Senate, Jedi now acting like scary policemen, etc.
