Baby sea turtles (about the size of your phone) were tracked using satellites and revealed that they don't just float about in the open water but actively swim towards or away from shallower areas.
And they really like hanging out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Their satellite observation today of accumulating heat stress (already above mortality thresholds) on the northern Great Barrier Reef: Yet again a deadly mass coral bleaching event is underway.

Without NOAA, climate & reef scientists will be blind.

Keen-eyed researchers discovered the first African species of pygmy #seahorse (only 2cm!) in the #iSimangaliso MPA. This incredible coastal wetland is also home to one of the region's largest turtle nesting sites, sharks, hippos, crocs, & much more.

I just came across this amazing figure comparing the degree to which exploited taxa are subject to harvest management and international trade regulation -- puts sharks 7 conifers in perspective as being under-manged nationally & internationally. 🦑🌍🐟🧪🦈
