I had a conversation the other day regarding students working past the stages they need too for that task. I recalled this ‘stages’ cartoon I put together to help focus and get the most out of the available time. Many try to cram in all stages instead of enjoying the journey. Stages 4&5 will come.

A good tip in learning to draw is to keep it simple by using stick figures and make notes in red. Draw balance lines, direction flow arrows, it helps to keep focus.

After 30 mins of basic but important drawing skills, I finished a recent class with my students drawing a 50 50 proportion character. My pen was playing up so it became a finger pad jobby. Drawing should be fun so the class had to be 50 50 as well.

I was creating a swing tag last night for my range of mugs but then I thought the whole image works as a logo for my new website. What dust reckon? ‘Sell it duck’ is a play on local dialect in The Potteries area of Staffordshire, England.

Two of my characters from The Larks, the mum and dad of the family. Iona Lark and Ecas Lark. If you’re familiar with Potteries dialect you’ll understand the play on words.
