The worst part of this whole "AI" push is people like this claiming that stuff like art tools that help blend or fill space is the same as the water-guzzling plagiarism machine in their quest to justify the existence of the plagiarism machine

Really good example of trying to foster AI doomerism in the comments I was describing. Even IF all of that is true (it's not, but sure), I can't stand the attitude of, well, since you *must* use X that's ethically compromised, you might as well just give up on everything! Just begging for a pass

The AI bubble is the same as the outsourcing of tech support, deregulating railways, slavery, etc.

If you feel the need to defend the use of AI, or even see some forms of it as "harmless", you're wrong.

Using it serves only to damage the world and rob people of their livelihood.

The only reason, and I mean the ONLY reason any company would use generative AI for anything for a product or piece of media, is to cut corners in an attempt to get free labor.

If a company can do the work with perceived zero cost, they'll do it in a heartbeat.

It has no soul or value.

The acting is mostly fine, it's just the premise and writing I mainly take issue with. The characters don't make sense, the conversations are weird and unrealistic, and it paints care facilities like nightmare hellpits.

Even if two characters have known each other for years they still just drop personal history on each other like they're just getting acquainted. There's a married couple who straight up have no knowledge of each other.
It's just so fucking weird that anyone thought these conversations would land.

A lot of the negative reviews throw a fit about the LGBT content, but that has nothing to do with it for me.

The writing is bafflingly bad, it makes the BMS profession look bad, they shit on Detroit repeatedly throughout the film, characters talk to each other like they just met.

Surely there's a way to give us contextual information that doesn't involve a character stating things to another character who would obviously already know this information.
