2012: Olivia Thirlby in Dredd

I’ll let the actress herself explain the appeal of her character in this.

“I'd always wanted to be an action heroine. That's a chick dream, getting to wear a leather bodysuit and be blonde and kick ass.” I think I can safely say the audience feels the same way too.

Indeed I think she’s now proven herself enough as a talent to shed any negative elements of the “nepo baby” tag, and established the basis for a genuinely promising career.

I can’t wait for her reunion with Eggers on his next film, Werwulf, set for release just over a year from now.

At times she’s almost as unnerving a presence as the sinister vampire villain; and we’re never quite sure whether her doll-like fragility is going to shatter or harden.

As a replacement for the initially-cast Anya Taylor-Joy, Depp had big shoes to fill, and she REALLY stepped up.
