We used to go to an amazing Thai restaurant in a tiny pub - great beer, great food.
I like food and beer, and I want to continue to do so.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone who is protecting their health, and the health of their loved ones!

Anyway, you aren't getting away without some βromanticβ music.
Wearing masks sometimes makes my ears sore - you can have sore ears too.
Wuthering Heights (Kate Bush cover)
Trustpilot review "unable for health reasons to eat indoors"
Trustpilot review - "with friends who live 200 miles away... via online chat"
But if you have a look at the Trustpilot reviews, we are clearly not the only customers who are aware of infection risks.
(Coordinating with friends and mixing this with online chat - impressive!)
I wonder what the company knows about their customers.
Dishpatch menu - Sabrina Ghayour
Their marketing says:
βDishes you can't get anywhere else, by the UK's most exciting chefs and delivered nationwide. Ready to finish and serve in minutes.β
And perhaps some of their customers just can't get a babysitter.
Celebrity chef and cardboard box
Has Dishpatch done any research into their customers?
I presume most of their customers are attracted by the βcelebrity chefβ element. You can't usually eat their food without travelling a long way.
Where I live, there are only a couple of Michelin star restaurants nearby.
Dishpatch meal - beef bourginon
Dishpatch has meals that do proper cheffy things - it's unlikely your local takeaway does these.
It's unlikely you can do these yourself, even if you are a really good cook.
There's a good chance they are better than your local restaurants.
Dishpatch meal - mushroom curry
They are far more of a βtreatβ than an M&S βValentine Meal Dealβ.
Usually, they are a lot more expensive, but meal deals have gotten pricey lately, and you can get last-minute Dishpatch deals.
Starter from a Dishpatch meal - French onion soup.
What the service does very well is allow you to have a βspecial occasionβ.
The closest comparison would be buying a really good steak and putting the most effort you can into cooking it really well.
But you've probably done that plenty of times before.
Detail of a Dishpatch meal.
Dishpatch provides very high quality meals, delivered to your door.
They are not really comparable to Gousto, Deliveroo, or regular takeaway services.
They are NOT cheap, and they are not without effort. Some cooking ability - mainly attention to detail - is required.
Going out to a restaurant carries with it the risk of COVID infection. COVID can affect your ability to taste & smell, which is important if you enjoy going out to restaurants. Which we do.
Hereβs a song about it.

Man wearing FFP3 mask.
How many people protect themselves from COVID infections?
In the UK, it doesn't feel like very many. It's rare for me to see other mask wearers.
I'm interested in whether there might be more people who are doing SOMETHING to protect themselves from COVID.

We miss going to restaurants.
For Valentine's Day, we are having a romantic meal supplied by Dishpatch.
This is not a paid promotion - no COI.

I ripped everything to wav files years ago.
Occasionally I dig the originals out of the loft for my children.
I bought a tape-deck about 20 years ago to turn some of the live shows I've taped over the years into wav files.
Maybe I should get it out of the loft and change them back.
That's a big reason for one of my sons to buy LPs - he draws/paints lots of album covers.
