Nicely put. Key factor for me w/ Bill, from a critical stand point, is that his lens conveys an emotional connection to the skaters. Something that isn’t often the “intent” by most filmers. It’s the byproduct of focusing less on the trick and more on the human and movement. The results are visceral.

This Friday the Museum of the Moving Image is screening: Skaterdater, Video Days and The Search for Animal Chin on their big screen. An incredible opportunity to see seminal skate videos in a beautiful theater.

Amen. HD Blu-ray on a physical player is an incredible format and experience. My concern with a lot of the 4k restos is that there needs to be an *asterisk if AI scaling/cleaning tools are used. I saw a recent 4k American Graffiti screening 🤢 and immediately bought the Blu-ray from 8 years prior.
