I should be getting an engagement ring in two weeks 😁

I’ve already proposed to my partner, but they wanted to get me an engagement ring so I could wear one too.

I’m going to unblock my parents, who when I came out said no one would want me, right before I post the picture.

I hope folks find at least a moment of peace tonight. Gets a moment to just feel a moment of safety. That’s what I’m hoping for tonight. Putting it all down for at least a moment.

I wrote a poetry chapbook with an overarching narrative about how personal healing spirals out into interpersonal and collective healing. I’m in the process of getting it published.

I stopped numbing myself to exist in spaces I was consistently uncomfortable being a part of. Growth edges are okay, but if I'm not growing into a better version of myself, that's a sign that I'm making myself smaller to fit in and I'm not about that anymore.

I stopped trying to change people. I stopped trying to make things work when the relationship isn't reciprocal. People have different energy levels, abilities, etc and I'm happy to have whatever connection we can have but I'm not going to give more than I want to give.

I let things go that aren't for me. Maybe they once were, but not anymore. I allow myself to grow new things by weeding out what's past its season. I allow myself time to discern, even sit in a bit of judgement, and I say no to things that aren't a clear yes in my body.

Old me: Smoke 🍃 every day to cope, constantly drowning, constantly moving.

New me: Consuming with intention, moving with intention.

Here’s what helped me grow in this area.

Two types of poets: "I write the poem in one draft and never touch it again" vs "I have an elaborate editing process and my poems are never truly done"...

Honestly I'm more of a contemplate and choose my words carefully kind of guy. I'll sit on a poem and edit over and over, looking up associations of words so that every word carries its full weight and echos other decisions I've made throughout the poem. Idk how to just yap for the algorithm.

Well, some times the beets aren't beeting. I've struggled with root vegetables so far but they're some of my favorites so I'll keep trying.

Berry season is upon us!

I happened upon a mulberry tree recently adjacent to the site for my gardening apprenticeship and was able to pick enough mulberries to make a fruit salad with some other things I had around the house.
