I am mentally prepared for it but the vet said she still has plenty of life left.

Owning a senior dog is really rough and sad. My dog is pushing 16, deaf, senile and does not like to be touched because of a skin condition. She is still healthy-ish and living mostly pain free but its just sad seeing her this way when she used to be so full of life and energy.
