Interesting movie to have that experience with. It wanted to remove that part and allow you to see it all again from a different experience, and that turned out to be a less than satisfying experience.

And then there are the movies that I saw out of time.

I don't think I saw California Split, or Down by Law until the mid-90s, but they still hit like ton of bricks.

And forget about Strangers on a Train, or Strangelove, or Cuckoo's Nest, or Barbarella, or Arsenic and Old Lace, or the Music Man.

Those were both heavy rotation, but first seen on HBO. We had a splitter and all of the cable channels. Never saw them on the big screen though.

For Lebowski, I rented the DVD as one of my first ever DVD rentals from some bodega when I was living in Boston. The DVD skipped, I kept getting through The Man in Me and the rug abduction, with the full realization that this was going to be a masterpiece, but I couldn't get it to play any further.

My buddy, James, was the projectionist. So we set it up to show us a private showing after close on Thursday night. We had just gotten to the part where Vincent stabs Mia with hypodermic and the power went out all over main street.

It was torture waiting until we could see the rest of the movie.

Both of these were interrupted:

Pulp Fiction was a fun experience for me, if infuriating. I was working in a movie theater when it was released (The Colonial Theater in Keene NH, where I also saw Phish for my first three shows) and we got the canisters on the Thurs before it opened on Fri.

That's a gap I have. There are many movies from this century that I've missed.

Blockbuster had it's advantages.

Memento deserves its window.

But for other reasons I could have chosen seeing Psycho (at the age of about 8) uncut and unspoiled on the 4:00 movie at my babysitter's place, or seeing Texas Chainsaw Mascre at about 12.

It's not really a fair question. I've been affected by movies all my life, and at the points I ran into them. Those could easily have been the two.

I had a crit class that had us pick one to write five essays about over a semester from different perspectives, and mine was Goodfellas.

I love Questions

Wanda's also a favorite. I used to be able to recite most of it. From the opening with Archie resting his case, and the heist, through its repetition of failed assassinations, and W's attempts to reason with Otto, and Wendy's tirades, to the steamroller, it's a masterpiece.

I never got past the premise.

Drescher is the whole package. I never really watched or liked that show, but she carries it. She's beautiful, charismatic, funny, has the timing and the poise. The accent is great when you actually want Gilbert Godfreid, and sometimes you do.

Fran is such a catch.

Still, I bet I could have been good at it if anybody wanted me to.

Syndication will definitely skew the numbers I often wonder where I would would have wound up with what I imagine your job to be, but I have no idea how I would have gotten there, or what the expectations are.
