I was due to appear on SBS Insight tonight in a show about ‘My Body My Choice’, with a disability counterpoint against lawyers representing anti vaxxers.

At the last minute, I was uninvited due to their strict ‘no mask policy’. Said the executive producer.

I will be lodging a DDA complaint.

The question I ask a lot - and have never gotten a meaningful answer to - is, what is the point?

What benefit was served by expending energy, environmental resources and money to add an extra layer of misinformation onto an already deeply broken internet?

In his excellent autobiography, Adventures of a Suburban Boy, he tells a wonderful story about his complicated relationship with Toshiro Mifune making Hell in the Pacific.

I’ve noticed there are more and more chill out spaces and sensory needs sessions these days in public places and events. This recognition of people’s accessibility needs is fantastic.

Now, why can’t we do this for COVID cautious people?

It is sort of fascinating that in general we seem to be leaving the era in which big tech companies need to pretend to be kind, or progressive, or responsible and can now freely operate openly as greedy and evil (like fossil fuel companies found ~1-2 yrs ago when they ditched greenwashing)
