Mo Willemsโ framed visual art interpretation of Beethovenโs ninth symphony, in a black frame on a white wall in the exhibit at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Four sections of art arranged vertically, representing the four movements of the symphony.
Beethoven Symphonies Abstracted by Mo Willems exhibit in the Kennedy Center hall. Chunky white pillars with one of the nine pieces of art, arranged along the red carpet with international flags hanging from the ceiling above.
Introduction and description pillar of the exhibit in the Kennedy Center hall.
Back when the Kennedy Center actually was, ( ๐ข ) they asked Mo Willems to create art based on each of Beethovenโs nine symphonies. The exhibit of his resulting nine abstract works of art was beautiful. First pic is the ninth, commonly known as Ode to Joy.

10 inch by 10 inch canvas with horizontal sections of acrylic paint smears across, dark burgundy at the top transitioning to deep red under, about a third of the way down, then into soft pink, then mixing into a neutral tone into a pale green with blue mixed in through the middle of the sea green. Edges are left raw paint.
Life is slowly finding a new normal. This is one of my favorites, I was frustrated with my paints one day and put the brush down to just smear the colors with my palette knife. I left the messy ridges among the swipes as a defiance but now itโs one of my favorite aspects.

A wood bookmark about six inches with two orange ribbons and a string with some beads attached to a hole at the top, laying on beige fabric. White, light blue, and red floral motifs on the wood with the light blue words: โBE courageous! HAVE faith! GO forward! -Edisonโ and two floral motifs at the bottom.
Fell out of a book I was putting in a box. Harmonic. I am doing exactly what it says. Apologies for not posting so much right now. Going through some stuff. Be back soon with my art. Thank you for understanding.

One other drawing for the #BlueSkyArtShow #Peaceful theme this week and for #Caturday! This was about practicing a new-to-me drawing method on that cute back foot Zoe always had up in the air while she slept peacefully like this.

Graphite drawing: in the center is a fluffy white owlet with eyes closed sleeping on a tree stump. The stump has a large chunk of bark missing below where the owlet is resting. The owletโs far wing is resting on a sliver of the tree stump left of center that is separated from the rest of the stump. Background blurred foliage. (The owlet was trying to fledge to a nearby tree branch and fell 30 feet into understory brush. Climbed up onto this stump and rested before resuming its new adventure up into the trees to successfully join the rest of the owl family that year.)
This weekโs entry is for the 2 wbu owlets that just hatched this week! (see my March 6 post w/the owl cam link)
A few years ago a wbu owlet fell while fledging, climbed onto a stump and rested awhile.

Interesting prompt posts in the show today! Hereโs mine, from a lovely Northern California evening years ago.

My Golden Coil contest entry design is my artistic representation of us and our connectedness even with our different orientations/directions and colors and sizes. A planner, tilted to the right about 45 degrees, sitting on the corner of a dark blue tufted cushion, with two gold paper clips to the right of it on the cushion. The planner has a gold metal binding, and the design is layered circle motifs all different sizes and colors, red, green, blue, pink, rusty orange on a creamy yellow background. The motif has a hole in it off to one side and three gradations of colors outward from the hole, darker the farther away from the hole. The layered motifs are arranged such that the holes are in different directions and they appear to be connected to at least one other via the holeโs loop.
Iโve never been one to just copy the crowd, so I knew my entry in a planner design contest was risky since it wasnโt repetitive floral like the rest. Still bummed it wasnโt chosen as a finalist. Oh well. I still love it. Maybe Iโll print my own. Design info in alt.

The ancient ruins of the Arch of Galerius along a sidewalk in the city, old marble reliefs with brick arch above, modern buildings in the background.
A little late in the day but still Saturday! Arch of Galerius in Thessaloniki Greece, taken by me. Fascinating reliefs on the ruins dating back to 300 AD.

Pieter Aertsen painting, A Meat Stall with the Holy Family Giving Alms in the background on the wall on the right, floral interpretation on pedestal on left by Tonia Gebhart of The Barefoot Artist with bouquets and arrangements of blush colored roses, ranunculus, anemones, lisiathus, anthuriums, eucalyptus, dishes of herbs, on a cutting board with post representing meat stall.
Museum painting on the wall on the right in the background of The Wind Stood Still by Irene Rice Pereira, blocks of blues with white and black vertical lines. The floral interpretation on a pedestal on the left by Adama Jay-Harrison of Lavish Leaf, of different blue shades of hydrangea, chrysanthemums, and delphiniums.
Museum painting on the wall on the left in the background The Cliff, Etretat, Sunset, by Claude Monetโa dark silhouette of a cliff with an arch feature with the sea in the foreground and the setting sun on the right in the dusk sky. On the right on a pedestal the floral interpretation by Elizabeth Zimmerman of Elizabeth Zimmerman Florals, of a dark vertical structure backdrop with an arch feature and green, blue and blush colored flora in the front with a clump of orange flowers on the right (representative of the sunset) and white, blush, and blue flora above the arch (as sky) all done with roses, delphiniums, rananculus, peonies, anthuriums, Queen Anneโs lace, astilbes, and clematis.
Recently got to go see the #NCMA Art in Bloom exhibit where artists are assigned a museum work of art to interpret in floral form. These were my favorites.

Evening sunset after a storm with puffy clouds still on the horizon blocking the direct sun but the broken clouds are letting rays of sun through just enough to light up all the moisture still in the air so it looks like bright flashlight beams coming out from behind the clouds on the tree covered horizon. Colors range from bright orange and yellow emanating from where the sun is behind the clouds beyond the black treesโ silhouette on the horizon to a steel blue near the top of the image beyond the remaining broken gray clouds.
After an evening summer rain storm I had to pull over and try to capture the heavenly sight.
