Yep, they are a little sketchy at times, but better than a finger stick. I use the Abbot, and then through Libreview, I can get my data into Home Assistant. Then I have a widget on my desktop (linux) that shows me my values while I sit and work. Very handy to just glance at a monitor and know.

Ultimately yes all the energy came from gas but depending on the driving patterns and behavior, the mileage would be significantly improved.

Under 45 cruising/driving would be completely powered by batteries through the electric motors and regenerative braking. The transmission would switch at points charge the batteries with gas engine and drive the wheels. Also when more torque was required than the weak electric motors used could do.

Doh! But just traded in '21 Kia Sorento Hybrid on a gas Kia Sportage. Had so many weird issues with the hybrid since we got it. Didn't have confidence that the batteries were trustworthy for much longer. Was only electric up to 45mph if 55-65 it might have been better savings.
