Understandably, many people scoffed at the first (or second, or hundredth) mention of California secession. And it's never properly been studied, because why would we?
But the burner only gets so hot before you jerk your hand away. Suddenly New West America doesn't seem so farfetched or silly.
The U.S. Supreme Court is not really a court at all.

A list of some of the many recent articles commenting on the fact that many people are talking wistfully about secession in California.
I never said it was βan idyllic land.β π€£ If you donβt like my source, you can look it up yourself & find lots of articles that say secession in Calif has become a hot topic. Youβve never met anyone who has considered it? Congratulations on having a narrow group of friends. No need to respond.

After reading this, it's not so hard to see how California might bluff its way into independence some day.

As blue states prepare to deny federal agents access to their databases, their highways, maybe even their airspace, the soft secession isnβt coming.
Itβs here.

I think we either find a way to get rid of the Electoral College and the other baked in aspects of our constitutional system that give rabid white Christians disproportionate power, or the country will inevitably split at some point
I'm a Californian and I wouldn't have a problem with leaving the Union. California is a Country in its own right and would be fine on our own. Fed up supporting Red States and getting spit on. Let them eat Our Tariffs!

That's *sort of* why I support California independence.
Which do you think the United States is more likely to do: let California go, or fix its own broken Constitution?
Currently about 44% would vote yes. Not a majority, but you're certainly not alone.

Why do we let fascists who hate us rule us from three time zones away?
They don't understand our open and inclusive culture, and they are terrorizing us by attacking the lives, families, communities, and workers who make us strong and rich.
Let's get out of this dying fascist empire!

As someone who's been involved in the movement for a long time, no one thinks this guy (or Marcus Evans) is the leader.
Secession is unlikely to pass if it gets on the ballot (44% yes, 54% no), but there is plenty of support for CA independence more broadly. See ic.institute/poll
Local media obtained a poll showing California voters approving a potential Democratic redistricting amendment by 52-41 and included the pollβs ballot question wording below.
Ballot measures can be notoriously difficult to poll, though
