I went to Oakham this afternoon and not far from my hotel is Morcott Tunnel, an abandoned railway tunnel you can walk through (providing it isn't flooded) and only a few miles south is the famous Harringworth viaduct.

A very bedraggled-looking Little Owl is slumped in the hollow of a tree, eyes half-closed and feathers ruffled. Its expression is one of pure exhaustion, as if it has just rolled out of bed and immediately regretted it. Nestled in its cosy nook, it appears utterly unprepared for the day ahead, radiating the unmistakable energy of someone who desperately needs a strong coffee before dealing with anything remotely productive.
Mood: unprepared and under-caffeinated.

I have managed to go though one full set of brake pads in that time, wore the last set down to the metal.
That'll explain why they stopped working back in December. I got 6 months out of them 😬🤣🤣
8 months exactly. I can change down but not up, every time I try changing up the chain comes off.
And every time it rains I have a problem with it. I've cleaned it & relubed it after every ride cos every time it gets wet or dirty it stops working.
It seems I have a gravel bike that doesn't like mud
It's just wear, I had the brakes done the other day and I've done a fair few miles on it so it's probably time it needs a new cable. Trouble is it's entirely internal so if it broke I'd be buggered.

In a part of the world I've never been before I didn't fancy getting stranded in that weather.
So glad to get out yesterday in the sunshine since todays ride went Pete Tong.
