Many RAPUP members holding a banner and union signs out on the street
Inside the Inn at Penn, Trustees are making decisions none of us will ever have a say in. Out here, many of the workers whose research makes Penn a university are reading out their letter calling on Penn to respect their voice and let @rapup-uaw.bsky.social vote for their union

In the latest issue, Jenny Turner reflects on the life and work of her former teacher, Gillian Rose:

Old review of a book -- apologies, on Mastodon I could give you the while text of it.
Jenny Turner's essay on Gillian Rose is excellent. In 1995 I had the somewhat awkward task of 'reviewing' Love's Work for The New Statesman. I still don't quite follow the thinking about the sources of 'power' in her work, esp. late on; glad the early lectures are now published.

#Hegel does this to/for you
Once, during an in-class “peer review” when suggestions and such like are shared, a PoliSci comparativist advised against speaking too slowly as “they might understand you”. Sad and true.
