It's somewhat vindicating now, albeit horrifying mostly due to the other unspeakable revelations that came about, that I'm learning that the sudden influx of right-wing influence on nerd culture as a whole had indeed been long orchestrated by the elites as a means of maintaining their power

with no one to condemn these figures without facing significant backlash online. Naturally this resulted in me wanting to socialize less with fanbases that I share a common interest with as I did not want to hide who I am and what I stand for as conditions for being treated with respect and fairness

as it had left me saddened. While none of these fanbases that I once openly prided myself as being a part of were particularly flawless to begin with, I don't recall it being to the point where a considerable portion of said communities consists of genuine nazis, right-wing grifters and so forth

In light of recent revelations, suddenly almost everything that I had felt in my gut regarding nerd/anime/gaming culture makes sense now. While I'm aware that it had started much earlier than 2022, the sudden alt-right shift that I have observed in these communities had left me as equally baffled
