THE WRITHING, VERDANT END IS OUT TODAY!!!!!!
Need some weird weird eco-horror in your life?
Then look no further than this little split collection from @ericraglin1992.bsky.social, @tiffmorris.bsky.social, and me!!!
This is seriously a fantastic collaboration of works. I absolutely loved each story, but Looking For The Flower Man (by @tiffmorris.bsky.social ) is probably my favorite. It's a sad, beautiful, impossible world I wish I could glimpse more into ๐

The Writhing, Verdant End is finally out! Two years back, I reached out to @tiffmorris.bsky.social and @coreyfarrenkopf.bsky.social about doing a split weird ecohorror collection, and now, on release day, I couldn't be happier with the book we created. It's dark, strange, angry, and transcendent!

My novella, On Phantom Wings, is the birding story. It's about a lot of different things: cool birds, evil cops, the diminishing of wild places, friendship, activist burnout, liberal reform vs. revolution, rad ancient megafauna, and what we would sacrifice for a better future. Read it and enjoy!

05.12.2025 17:45 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Cover of The Writhing Verdant End
Out next week, THE WRITHING VERDANT END is a great collection of short ecological horror fiction by Corey Farrenkopf, Tiffany Morris, and Eric Raglin. Often disturbing and moving at the same time -- they're the kind of stories that to savor and ponder. #ewgc #booksky
04.12.2025 21:17 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Several people have said "Winter Savory" was one of their favorites in my collection, which makes me very happy! It's a story I tried to make both mythic and personal, mixing dread and grotesquerie with my own holiday memories. The setting is a dream amalgam of a few relatives' houses. ๐๐ฆ๐ฟ๐
04.12.2025 16:04 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Not kidding when I say "Winter Savory" by D. Matthew Urban is one of my favorite Christmas Weird horror stories, right up there with "The Christmas Eves of Aunt Elise" by Thomas Ligotti. You can read it and many other weird stories here: www.cursedmorselspress.com/product/shak...
03.12.2025 16:15 โ ๐ 17 ๐ 10 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 2Every day the Flower-Man carries the bouquets in a large wicker basket on his back, bundles wrapped in tongue-red ribbon. He wanders fallow fields, holding onto the promise of blooming. His skull is stained pink with botanical ichor. His clothes smell of pollen, and his voice is the humming of bees. He walks past a hare escaped from a trap; tracking mud, it leaps over a meagre fox corpse. The fur is not enough for a pelt. A magpie flies in the grey stratosphere. It tracks the townspeople and carries messages to the Devil.
In "Looking for the Flower-Man," Tiffany Morris's prose is an immersive, full-sensory omen of a dying world. Read this story and many other ecohorror nightmares in The Writhing, Verdant End, which you can order here: www.cursedmorselspress.com/product/the-...
03.12.2025 15:12 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Itโs a great story, inhabiting a genre-blurry zone I love: too fond of its macabre and violence, or at least accepting and ambivalent abt them, to โreally be horrorโ by stringent definitions, but probably too grotesque, unsettling, and amoral to be not-horror according to most peopleโs lights.
