the trailers for the electric state have all looked horrible but i'm morbidly curious to see how bad it is after seeing this on the movie's wikipedia page about how they russo's somehow didn't understand the story they bought the fucking rights to

I cannot stress enough how much Electric State is the wrong book to adapt if this was all they wanted to do. This is literally a bunch of the concepts, visual and storytelling, from Stålenhag's other works, like Tales from the Loop and Tales from the Flood! Just adapt those!!

And especially - the central theme even - is a discussion of how military technology development filters into and pervades entertainment technology, and arguably all civil society. The entire book's premise is how a military technology repackaged for consumer entertainment has collapsed society!

The story of Electric State is not fucking difficult to understand you fucking dipshits! Sentient robots are even in some of Simon's other books!! Adapt them you assholes!
