Oh interesting! What makes it not great?

Agree. One of the things I love about Goose is they often do what Phish used to do ‘97-99 (find and stick with an extended groove). One of my criticisms of modern Phish is they often move on too quickly from segment to segment.

The place I normally stay at for $250 is $600. It’s bonkers. I was just in the city in October, the busiest time of year, and my double tree room was $450.

It’s especially bad this weekend. I’ve never seen it this bad. A buddy says it’s because the US Open golf tournament is on Long Island and there aren’t enough rooms near there.

It’s what finally sold me on the band. I’d seen them a couple times in 2022, and while I had fun, I wasn’t hooked. But after Goosemas ‘24, I went all in. Traveled to Fiddlers, Louisville, Wilmington, Richmond, and Providence.

If you have time to let the chicken bones simmer for like 4+ hours, it’s worth it. Turns the broth into that silky milky consistency you want in a good ramen.

Started seeing the dead as a teen in ‘92 but quickly jumped over to Phish in ‘94. Despite trying in 2022, Goose didn’t click for me til ‘24. As for the universe of folks willing to participate in something like this, I guess I’ll have to take your word!

I appreciate very much Neal’s perspective. Probably my favorite voice on the pod. The lamenting (perhaps tongue in cheek) was directed at him and in response to some of the jam match ups.

…but you’re right. I’m new to this, so should maybe sit back and see how it pans out. It’s just a little surprising and confusing at first!

I replied to someone else with the same, but will say again that no stones were cast. The low participation could be due to numerous factors. As a restaurant owner, if I have low turnout, I look for any and all reasons why. High barrier to entry (cost or time) is likely, but experience is also key.

I didn’t take it as anything more than differences of opinions. I hope mine came across as the same!

Maybe you’re right! I was just very surprised by how low the number was. Esp knowing now the JOTY trophy I’ve heard so much about was based on such a small sample size. If more participants are wanted, I think there are many ways to encourage that.

In no way am I suggesting they don’t welcome other voices. The reason could be anything. Time is def a factor. But maybe when a noob takes that time, only to hear the pod criticize 1/3 of their choices, lamenting the “wisdom of the crowd”, they decide to skip it the next year.
