I usually make the analogy with respect to the personal stats of JadedVets. Basically by stumbling into random shows 1995-2000 you had a good chance of seeing some Hall of Fphame inductees.

It stands to reason that seeing ~10-15 shows a year during the lost years would have padded those stats.

This is like how Ted Williams’ career stats are missing the equivalent of 5 peak years because he fought in two wars.

Add 2001-2002 and 2005-2008 and Phish would be at least in the top 10.
