I've said it before, and I will say it again:

It's astonishing how emotionally aversive revisions are, even in the best possible case (reviewers are positive and have very actionable remarks).

Or at least that's how I work; if anybody has some good recommendations for coping, do let me know πŸ˜‚

But the personas also influenced participants' behavior Participants also talked more when conversing with teh extraverted vs. introverted agents

Interestingly, the two personas changed how participants evaluated the virtual agent: The extraverted model was rated as more pleasant.

The LLM was prompted to be either extraverted and talkative or introverted and less talkative.

Using the NEO-FFI as a manipulation check confirmed these differences. The extraverted model also produced more words

EEG data 🧠 showed a different pattern:

The agents facial emotional expression modulated the LPP

But this was only the case when participants had sent an happy or angry expression but not when they had remained neutral.

➑️ Interacting enhances processing of emotional expressions

Facial EMG πŸ’ͺ and ratings πŸ”’ showed that sending happy vs. angry expressions increased mimicry and pleasantness of happy response expressions.

➑️ Sending affiliative signals increases mimicry and valence of affiliative responses

➑️ This replicates previous findings doi.org/10.1016/j.bi...

We tested dyadic interaction between participants and virtual agents on a screen

1️⃣ Participants were instructed to direct a facial expression towards the agent: happy πŸ˜€, neutral 😐, angry 😠

2️⃣ Next, the agent responded with another facial expression (again πŸ˜€,😐, or 😠)

Neural mechanisms underlying the interactive exchange of facial emotional expressions Abstract. Facial emotional expressions are crucial in face-to-face social interactions, and recent findings have highlighted their interactive nature. Howe

Excited to share our new paper on "neural mechanisms underlying the interactive exchange of facial expressions"

We used both EMG and EEG to study whether "sending" an emotional expression influences "receiving"
