We've had enough of the big supermarkets ripping us off. Aussies want affordable housing, not another Woolies scam. When state & fed governments give profit-hungry developers new avenues for profit in a housing crisis you have to wonder who they’re really working for.

How ludicrous for Labor to cut $5 billion in public services during a cost of living crisis. Every six months the government pays around $5b in Fuel Tax Credits to mining corporations to burn fossil fuels. If Labor is going to cut spending, cut handouts to fossil fuel barons.

Tasmania is about to enter a period of fiscal austerity it hasn't experienced before. Hospitality businesses near the stadium are expecting some sort of economic nirvana. They better hope mainlanders are cashed up. Tasmanians using the stadium will be lucky to afford a packet of chips. #politas

I must confess to an intense dislike of gambling fuelled, professional, spectator sport. But if the majority feel they really must have a team so be it; but it should not be at the cost of destroying the heart of a city I love. Let them build their arena for bread and circuses elsewhere.

Not just gullible; but mindless proselytisers for an impending financial disaster. To try and convince them otherwise is like arguing with children. I have a friend of 30 years, militantly, gloatingly pro-stadium, who I will most likely never speak to again. As you say; sad.

We already pay as much rent as mainlanders, food is more expensive and wages are lower. Going to big events isn’t possible for most. We’re becoming one of those tourism destinations where the locals can’t afford to do anything. The stadium will massively accelerate that process.

It's not hyperbole to say there will be lives lost because of this decision. Tassie can ill afford this money to be directed away from essential services such as health. To have an AFL stadium it means 2,800 public servants get sacked & funding for public & social housing dries up, along with other state owned services.
