Will avoid Volkswagen rental cars in future! Fix it, VW!

On start, audio sources only work about 50% of the time. Music, Podcasts, Bandcamp… if one doesn’t work none work, and you have to restart your phone. (Restarting the car doesn’t solve the problem. To repeat: this does not seem to be an issue with my phone as many others report the same issue.)

My phone takes a long time to connect (wireless and wired) and even after connecting it is often dropped, or we are asked to confirm that my wife’s phone should connect instead. This happened even when she was not in the car.

I like Apple CarPlay but Volkswagen’s implementation is subpar. (I’m driving a rental Taos; before posting I’ve confirmed that the issues I experienced are common for Volkswagen drivers.)
