Continuation of the concept doodle for ruins 2.

A drawing depicting the girl looking out at the village from afar. The words on top are lyrics from a dutch song titled "Dagen van Gras, Dagen van Stro". I was trying to capture the mood of the song in this piece.

The rest is stuff made after the animatic released. Thank you for reading. This project meant a lot to me. When it first released, it was my magnum opus. The best thing I had ever done. I hope to keep making better things in the future. (5/5)

First drawings of the hunter and the girl.

A test to see which weapons they would use. The girl always had a bow, but the hunter had a big sword for a while until I decided it made no sense for him and gave him an axe instead.

A comedic doodle about how the hunter loses his arm in the ruins.

The hunter tending the girl's wounds. This doodle wound up being used as inspiration for a scene in the animatic.

I sometimes wonder if I was better at marketing my stuff. Would it be seen by many and do well, or would it be deemed forgettable garbage by those who see it? There's no real way to know the value of my work to others, other than them seeing it, but maybe it's best if I never find out.

I've wanted to show the concept art of Happy Fun for a while, but I've always postponed it until the issues were done to avoid any "spoilers." Not many people really read the comic, so I figured it'd be fine to show little samples of character designs and how bad my art was.

Fun tidbits in the ALT text. Also, remember that you have to click on the text to view the whole thing, but Bluesky doesn't make that obvious at all for some reason.

Very early mask designs for the masked girl. I had her in mind since issue 3, but I didn't make her pop up in the story until later because I knew I wanted to make it cool.

The idea for the desperate attack was set in stone here as well. I didn't know it would end up being used the way it did in the comic when I drew this, but I knew it would be used at some point.

I knew I would make the masked girl come back with warmer clothes for the weather to support her earlier claims, but I didn't know exactly what she'd wear. So I quickly doodled this and ended up adding a poncho to the final design to make it fit more with the clothes of the locals (and because ponchos are cool as hell.)

A doodle of Jelf and the masked girl. I just thought it was funny. I made it before I knew I'd give both of them warmer clothing when they fought.

Reminder that the ALT text includes fun tidbits about the doodles

The first design for Sergor, the hero of Foolor. His final design got way bulkier and has more interesting shapes. This first attempt makes him look younger than he is. An in-between variation of this design and the final one is used at the start of the issue. I hadn't planned his final design when I drew him in the comic.

Sketches for Sergor's family. I got rid of the sister and replaced her with the mom to focus the story more on the brothers, especially the little one. The idea was to make the reader think the cool guy would be the main focus, then subvert their expectations.

A later design of Sergor, injured from the battle. He was supposed to lose his arm in the battle with the masked girl, but I decided against it because my animatic The Ruins had come out around that time, and the main character there loses an arm. I opted for his arm to simply be injured instead.

A depiction of Gigor defending his brother from the masked girl. I knew I wanted this to happen in the flashback to showcase more of the masked girl's personality subtly. I also wanted to show that despite lacking magic and being afraid, Gigor would still stand up against overwhelming foes.

In retrospect, it's wild how far I've come art-wise.

The Rin power-up scene. This was made a little before issue 5.

I write as I go, so shockingly, I didn't even know what Rin would look like under the hood until I stopped to doodle it.

Some fun doodles. Her eye change thing wasn't intentionally meant to show her ability originally, I had just made one eye shine because it looked cool. Later, it became a part of the look and helped it stand out from just charging up.

A quick drawing of the smile. I don't remember why I made the monster look like this.
